Role in Diagnosis and Disease Monitoring

Musculoskeletal ultrasound supports diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory arthritis tendon pathology and enthesopathy and provides dynamic assessment that complements clinical examination and laboratory markers. Ultrasound detects synovial hypertrophy effusions and increased vascularity that indicate active inflammation and guides treatment decisions and monitoring of therapeutic response. Serial imaging documents changes in synovitis and in erosive disease and helps rheumatologists tailor therapy and assess remission.

Standardized Scanning and Scoring Systems
