Antoine Béclère is credited with establishing one of the earliest hospital based radiology services in Paris in the late 1890s and he organized clinical use of X rays for diagnosis and for teaching which helped transform scattered experimental use into a structured hospital service and his department became a model for integrating imaging into routine patient care and for training the first generation of radiologic practitioners
